Durex x Motsepe Advertising Present “Get Closer.” A Culture-Led Valentine’s Campaign at Lovers Rock Festival 2026

Valentine’s Day has a way of shrinking love into cliché, red roses, rehearsed romance, and predictable gestures. This year, Motsepe Advertising and Durex set out to return it to something real. Something felt. Something lived. 

With “Get Closer,” Durex and Motsepe Advertising chose culture over convention. Instead of speaking about intimacy in abstraction, the campaign placed the brand at Lovers Rock Festival 2026, in the hum of music, in the press of bodies moving to rhythm, in the electric proximity that only live experience creates. Closeness was no longer a tagline; it became a setting. 

The creative direction leaned into bold simplicity: a striking blue canvas, confident typography and hearts that felt playful rather than precious. The visual language invited rather than shouted, recognising that modern love is expressive and social, yet still deeply personal. From digital rollout to on-ground presence, every touchpoint carried the same message: intimacy is something to be celebrated responsibly and confidently. 

By embedding the brand within a cultural moment rather than orbiting it from a distance, the campaign allowed Durex to exist where connection was already happening. The festival became both stage and metaphor, a shared space where people gather to feel something together. In that shared experience, the brand found relevance that felt earned rather than imposed. 

The result was more than visibility; it was resonance. The campaign generated strong engagement and social traction, demonstrating how culturally anchored storytelling can transform a seasonal moment into meaningful brand impact.
